Chandrayaan – 1 : India’s first lunar orbiter (Moon) mission by ISRO. A Satelliet travels towards the Earth’s only natural satellite.Launch is scheduled for 22 Oct 2008 at 00.50 UTC from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC). Over a two-year period, it is intended to survey the lunar surface to produce a complete map of its chemical characteristics and 3-dimensional topography.
Traveling a distance of 384,399 kilometres (238,854 miles) will be a dream travel for ISRO scientists. Hopefully a Golden day of ISRO. Hats off to the Indian Scientists and ISRO. Wishing ISRO, all the best for the success of Chandrayaan.
I usually wonder at the rockets launch , satellite launch and some times I felt that I should have been a Scientist (not due to the interest in the space/solar system/galaxy – its due to the interest/Love in Moon). Really the satellite Chandrayaan-1 is lucky to visit moon and stay there for two more years. Came to know that there are more number of moons in Solar systems. The Moon with capital ‘M‘ – this is the name for Earth’s moon. Some of other moons are Ganymede, Titan, Callisto, and Io. And I’m soooo sad when I came to know about that Earth has only one moon.
I just still wonder, Why Earth has only one moon ?
