Right thing happening in right time…!

YHM a growing 2 year old NGO got proper recognition in very short period. Its really a boosting thing that medias are focusing on more good things. Kalam Nagappan of YHM, an astounding young guy who has lots of patriotism and build with high moral values is the founder of YHM. It would be highly inspirational to see nagappan and his friends working as a team.

We (Blossom) were associated with them for few projects from the day one of YHM. I have never seen a setback in these two years. They keep on moving forward with their volunteer strength and the team work.I remember in the beginning days they were not that much flooded with money in their accounts, because most of the volunteers are students. But at that time also they never fed up and they worked with the same spirit and now they are sort of financially stable when compared to those days. I still remember that, one year back I had told mari and mohan (trustees of Blossom) that YHM will reach heights in very short period and their hard work will get recognized in right time. And things happened in right time.

YHM representatives had a meeting with Dr.Kalam , YHM founder’s interview in Dinamalar News paper, article in Billion Beats E- Magazine, YHM interview on AIR (Rainbow FM), portrayed as unsung heroes and interview by Prime point foundation, etc ., etc., these are the few of the recognitions they got recently.

Most times we really wondered at their commitment in the field work. In the beginning every week end they will be involved in the field works and nowadays seems that they are involved in the week days too. Really  the commitment they have shown took them to this height. Still a long way to  go , but this is the right time to get recognized. Because this recognition will help them to move faster and to break some practical issues they face.

In my observation I  can say that the secret of YHM’s success would be ,

1. They discuss each and every thing with their members, despite of getting no response also they never stopped discussing the things with members.

2. They seek suggestions for most of their activities, which helps them to improve more.

3. Their core team meets almost all the Sundays for a formal meeting and discuss the issues and activities.

4. They give each core team members a responsibility to handle. This helps them to involve more ans show more commitment towards the activities.

5.In the beginning they never took any big projects which are beyond their ability. This helped them to complete more projects and got to see some productive results.Which in turn gave them a confidence that today they can handle any projects big or small.

6.The last and biggest secret was , in the beginning most of their volunteers are students and Non-IT professionals , which helped them to build a strong foundation and more fire on field works. But now they have equal strength of IT peoples also.

I sure that, they would have faced hell a lot of hiccups in these two years both personally and socially. But we have to realise one thing that “no pain no gain”. But here YHM’s pain is India’s gian.

Hats off to Nagappan,Pomudi,Poornima,Renjini,Sathya,Boopathy, karthik and the YHM team (sorry for not able to mention all the names of core team) for your unconditional love on this nation and for your commitment towards the better India.

And I am sure that now we could not say YHM as a young NGO because they well  grown up now by reaching numerous hearts and lives. Wishing all the best for the success of YHM activities and succeeding the short term goal of starting a Montessori school for under privileged, reaching 100 educational requests and involving 10000 members as volunteers.

Still a long way to go and lots of hurdles are there to face. We(Blossom) are here to come along with you (YHM) and especially while facing hurdles. YHM you really deserve it and very happy to accompany you as a partner NGO.

India is in safer hands …!

17th Jan 09, yet another beautiful day in my life. Every day is special, but the “Action2020 – Unconference” meeting added more crowns for the day.

Action2020 – Unconference : A meeting with some 33 NGO’s working towards the betterment of India. Unlike in the traditional Seminars / Conference, in the UnConference mode, opportunity is given to all the participants to share their views. The vision of the unconference was to act as a virtual platform and work as a network to connect various NGO’s to reach people faster.

This event was organized by IndiaVision-2020, a online portal which connect 35 NGO’s with around 2300 young , vibrant volunteers and still growing. IV2020 was inspired dream of Dr.Kalam and working towards it.

Me and two of my friends represented Blossom and shared our views and thoughts. Really it was very nice to be with all the young volunteers from various NGO’s and to share the thoughts with eachother. Hats off to Indiavision 2020 and other organizing groups. Then next meeting will be in another 6 months of time with more NGO’s added as partner NGO’s.

India Vision 2020 – Meeting with Dr.Kalam

This was the meeting I was speaking in the post(click to see the old post) few days back . Few chennai based NGO members met Dr. kalam for a normal discussion on the current activities.

YHM and other NGO members meeting with Dr.Kalam

YHM and other NGO members meeting with Dr.Kalam

The person standing in the right side corner is Kalam Nagappan, founder of YHM , the gal sitting in the center is Uma , founder of SIRAGU Montessori school and Suyam Trust, person sitting in the right side corner is Mr.Srinivasan of India Vision 2020. Hope this meeting would have brought a tremendous change in every one there. Good luck and keep goin.

And good news is Dr.Kalam wanted to add more NGO’s with India Vision 2020 and seems that he asked Mr.Srinivasan of India Vision 2020 to add more NGO’s for working together. And hence Blossom has also got a invitation to join with them. And its our pleasure to join them. 🙂

Melody of Joy …!

Yesterday every minute was a Melody of Joy for me and hundreds of children gathered at the event held in Loyola college.  It was the charity event named “Melody Of Joy” organized by YHM (Social Welfare Org.) and ‘V-trust’ . And few more groups like Outreachers, Innovators,Loyola college also joined hands with them to conduct this event. Cultural events from various college students Chennai and from the children’s of different homes ( homes for destitute , home for special children and some special institutions) were displayed on the stage. Really it was a great joy being there. Each and every minute was filled with joy , happiness , wishes , encouragements and emotions.

YHM (young Helping Minds) was one of the main organizer this event. They have selected 9 different organizations and conducted some offstage events like drawing competiton , essay writing and Oratorical and selected three from each event and from each organization. And events like dance, singing , mime show , skid ,etc., were conducted onstage. For all these events the prizes were distributed in the stage. The event was well organized. I just wondered at the volunteers for YHM and V-Trust. Volunteers are the main reason for making this a grand success. Because running a event with the college students as audience was the not the easiest job. They did it and the event completed without any hiccups.

My special wishes to “Kalam Nagappan” (founder of YHM) for his great commitment and interest in building a better society. Nagappan is a young chap, doing his third year engineering . I have never seen a guy with this much fire. He is a man of activeness and man of promises. He got admired by Dr.Kalam and prefixed his name with  Kalams name . The strength of YHM is the college students. Most of the members are students and so they have lots of volunteers. But it is as much easy and as much tought to get a volunteer job done from the young blood. Blossom always setback with lack of volunteers , bcos having software engg. as the members , its really hard to get volunteers. Hats off to YHM and its volunteers.

Special thanks to Loyola college for giving the excellent auditorium, V-trust, Outreachers, Innovators and for every one involved in organizing this event. Lashings of thanks and prayers to the kids and children of different organizations like Siragu, Saraswathy school, Nalmanam, Home of hope,Mithra etc., for participating in the events and make every one happy.

I wish perpetual success and happiness for the YHM, V-trust and other organizations. Let this melody of joy reach each and every one in this world.

Happy to see lots of youngsters working for a better society. Best wishes.

just wonder at Dr.Kalam’s commitment

Yesterday (24th July ) few NGO’s had a meeting with Dr. Abdul Kalam. The meeting was about a interactive session and all the NGO’s planned to discuss about their current and future activites and to discuss about his ideas on that. Few of my known contacts from a NGO also attented the Meeting. Can any one guess the appointment time given my Dr.Kalam ???

It’s 11.00 pm and my friend messaged me after the meeting was over. The time was around 2.00 am. I just really wonder at his commitment. They also say that , his regular schedule is upto 1.00 am every day. What may be the thing makes him to work for several hours at this age?  This shows that he still dreams and he is also working on that.Hope by today evening I will be getting some info about the meeting and the things held over there.

Some of the NGO’s attended the meeting are , Young Helping Minds (YHM), SIRAGU Montessori School (Suyam Trust), India Vision 2020, India Sudar, another from Cognizant(CTS) company  etc.,  Here the most of the NGO’s are working towards Dr.Kalams vision (2020).

Though I am not the one , to completely praise Dr.Kalam for all his activites. I too have some controversial perceptions on few of his activiteis. But most times I wonder at his commitment and Interest in improving India. Hats off to Dr. Kalam.
